Why I Don’t Buy Into The Persona That Is Andrew Tate

Andrew Tate. We all know who he is and what he has said and done. Some love him, and others loathe him. Some don’t think about him at all. I didn’t until he showed up relentlessly on my Instagram search feed about a month ago. The guy knows how to market himself, but is it quality or just quantity?

You see, I have met Andrew Tate before. Not the physical incarnation of Andrew Tate, but the Andrew Tate type. Yes, like all of us, he is a type. Brash, brazen, arrogant, a guy with something to prove. He is meticulous about his appearance but not classically attractive. There is an awkwardness about him. He reminds me of the nerdy boy in elementary school who was bullied by his peers and insecure about everything. He is the guy in high school who followed the crowd and felt threatened by anyone who made him feel small, especially girls who challenged his intellect. He is the guy I met in college that hung around clubs and picked up young women with too much makeup on their faces and not enough going on upstairs because those were the only women that would give him the time of day.

Would you believe me if I told you that the guy I paint a picture of, although very real to an observer, does not exist?

Some people go for bravado. They do not see beyond the surface and do not bother to question the narrative. I do.

Guys like Andrew Tate are compelled to create such a massive presence around them because internally, they are vulnerable, hurt, and deeply insecure. If you touch him the wrong way, he will break into a million pieces. This guy is not what he appears to be.

Andrew Tate exposed his vulnerability when he made unsavory comments about young women. I don’t think it went over well with a lot of people. Anyone who thinks critically and looks deeper can see that Tate is damaged. He has soul work to do. He has shown us his ugly parts, and he knows it. He had to redeem himself by creating a new persona. So, what did he create?

Tate created a false narrative. He figured out what was popular to talk about, and he went with it. It was an attempt to redeem his image when things went south. I commend him for his ability to memorize material. He is an imitator, not such a great one, but at least he tries. An effort is something.

Andrew Tate follows a formula. He repeats what others have said and written about and paraphrases it. He acts as if he is wise, but anyone who has picked up a philosophy or history book knows he is not speaking from his heart. His opinions and insights are not his. That is why many people can’t take him seriously. Add to this his forays into porn and his recent detainment for sex trafficking, and well, he appears to be exactly who people think he is. But again, this guy does not exist.

Andrew Tate created a persona, a character separate from his kickboxing career and the man he is with his family. It allows him to fit into a world he has always felt alien. He has been doing it for so long he has convinced himself he is his persona. He is a mirage, incognito.

The real Andrew Tate is a boy looking for validation. A man who has armored his thin skin with bluster and ego, and nefarious lifestyle choices. This might be hard to swallow, but Andrew Tate is love living in fear. Perhaps that is his true mission on this earth; to show us that we are worthy of living truthfully, even when we are shunned and outcasted by society. Time will reveal who he truly is, but we could be on to the next scandal by then.
